Rondevlei Wetland Nature Reserve

Rondevlei Nature Reserve was established in 1952 to protect the very rare ‘sand plains fynbos’. A number of plant species here are endemic to the Reserve. We will spend the morning visiting the six bird hides – seeing and identifying an impressive amount of birds. The Reserve also has a family of Hippopotamus and Cape Clawless Otter, Small Spotted Genet, Cape Grysbok and Grey Mongoose are often seen. We will keep an eye out for the African Fish Eagles as they swoop down on the unsuspecting giant Carp.
