”We sat patiently at the Ombika Waterhole. Giraffe, Springbok, Black-faced Impala, Kudu, Red Hartebeest and Warthogs, a lone bull Elephant, Gemsbok, Black-backed Jackal, Slender Mongoose and Bushveld Elephant-shrew were seen at the waterhole. We just needed one more mammal species to beat my ‘waterhole’ record….. Then a majestic Lion, with a glorious black mane walked out into the open scattering the other mammals in all directions”.
